Our future…

child-89208_1920Have you looked at the current health status of our children? Are you worried about it? If you are then this post is for you.

Is your child healthy? Does your child have any chronic issues?  I’m amazed at the number of issues parents are seeking help with. Things that range from my child has a fever, my child doesn’t poop to my child has cancer or autism.

No matter where your child is on the line-up of childhood issues it’s important to realize that nutrition is a key underlying component to assist in all of these issues.

Hang on a minute, before you go…oh brother! Let’s run through these and other issues and see how “nutrition” plays a role in these problems.

What is it? Fever is the body’s way of fighting. It’s working. There are quite a few places to go read about fevers and how to best handle them. There are also quite a few different opinions.  But one interesting link is the correlation of the reduction of fevers to later onset of cancer! Wow! Others relate fever to a snake shedding its skin so it can grow and develop. Our children are definitely doing a lot of growing!

In our office we recommend handling fevers with hydration via bone broth. (You can make your own or buy some from Bolyard’s down the street. I found this recipe too and it looks amazing!) We also utilize calcium lactate from Standard Process. During a fever a body is pulling calcium from the tissues (sounds like some rebuilding happening.) We provide the body with extra calcium to do the rebuilding that it needs.

I haven’t touched on the extremes here so if you have concerns about those, please reach out.

Have you ever checked out the Bristol poop chart? (It’s humorous how in doing research you can get taken down a whole different yet similar topic!) So….the Bristol Stool Chart gives you an idea of what healthy poop actually looks like. It’s amazing to me how many people only poop once or twice a week and think that is okay. Or a client I’ve been working with who has been on Miralax since he was 1 week old! Seriously people!!!! Pooping is important! Why? Poop is one way that the body get’s rid of the poop…I mean the waste products of what has gone into our mouths. It is also the waste from biologic reactions.

Did you know that the brain and the gut are connected? There is a very specific diet by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride MD. called he GAPS Diet. It’s the Gut and Psychology Diet.

“The GAPS diet was derived from the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) created by Dr. Sidney Valentine Haas to naturally treat chronic inflammatory conditions in the digestive tract as a result of a damaged gut lining.  SCD gained great popularity after a mother, Elaine Gottschall, healed her own child of Ulcerative Colitis and became an advocate for SCD.  Elaine Gottschall is also the author of the popular book, Breaking the Vicious Cycle:Intestinal Health Through Diet.  Through years of research and clinical experience, Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride adjusted her protocol to fit the individual healthcare needs of her patients suffering from a variety of intestinal and neurological conditions as a result of an imbalanced bacterial ecosystem within the GI tract.  The GAPS Diet focuses on removing foods that are difficult to digest and damaging to gut flora and replacing them with nutrient-dense foods to give the intestinal lining a chance to heal and seal.”

And there are times that this is the thing to heal the person! There are a couple of parts of it that I recommend to clients on a regular basis. Most noticeably…avoiding triggers, bone broth and fermented foods. The healing that occurred in my own body as well as my son’s was quite amazing once the bone broth and fermented foods where added in.

I’ve also been introduced to a wonderful individual who can assist your bowels in working more optimally. Check Karen out here.

What is cancer? Cancer is abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. It’s incredible to me the amount of research that has gone into the program to give us the tools to pick up the things that lead to cancer. Cancer is simply the bodies way of attacking an accumulation of toxins. These toxins can be related to foods, immune issues, chemicals and metals.

Toxins in our environment are growing. The moral decay of our society is also growing. Combine the two and we have a recipe for disaster.

So what are we to do about it? 1. Educate yourself. Be willing to look at all of the information from various view points. 2. Make your money count. What is it that you are purchasing? Where you spend your dollars is what makes things more available for all. 3. Get yourself healthy. I love what we are able to do and how we are able to assist people in creating a healthier body and environment based on what their body is responding to. The more the client does for themselves, the better/faster things will be taken care of.

One simple thing to change is your coffee. Do your research.

I look back to my childhood and I don’t recall one child who would have been classified as autistic. Maybe it just wasn’t on my radar or I wasn’t exposed to enough people but the number of kids that I see and parents I know personally who are dealing with a child who is autistic is unquestionable. The question becomes “Why?”

There are common things that I see in every case of autism that I see. 1. Digestive issues. 2. Metal toxicities. It’s been an almost universal finding.

I see that digestive issues tend to be what is ruling the clients that I do see. Digestion is one of the major ways our body utilized what we put into it and then eliminate the toxins.

Watching the toxins leave these kids and their personalities and calmness come out is quite possibly one of the most rewarding parts of my job. When parents come in and ell me that their child is happy or that they want to play with the other kids now. It’s breathtaking.
